Target Audience

This program is intended for physicians, pharmacists, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, physician associate/physician assistants, and other healthcare professionals who care for persons at risk of HIV acquisition.

Program Learning Goal

The goal of this program is to equip healthcare professionals caring for patients initiated on PrEP with practical strategies to overcome barriers to PrEP persistence and reengage with those who have discontinued PrEP

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify patients at risk of PrEP discontinuation through proactive monitoring strategies and awareness of populations at increased risk of discontinuation, such as women and younger patients

  • Apply supportive interventions to reduce the risk of inappropriate PrEP discontinuation, addressing health system, regimen-based, and patient factors
